Reelin functions beyond neuronal migration: from synaptogenesis to network activity modulation

چکیده

Reelin, a glycoprotein of the extracellular matrix, has been focus several studies over years, mostly for its role in cell migration. Here we report this molecule and downstream pathways post-mitotic neurons how they contribute to neural circuit assembly, refinement function. Accumulating evidence pointed at major Reelin axonal guidance, synaptogenesis dendritic spine formation. In particular, new points direct targeting target site. addition, recent advances highlight functions modulation synaptic activity, plasticity behavior regulation GABA receptors expression stability. We discuss these findings context neurodevelopmental disorders.

A role of MAP1B in Reelin-dependent neuronal migration.

The signaling cascades governing neuronal migration are believed to link extracellular signals to cytoskeletal components. MAP1B is a neuron-specific microtubule-associated protein implicated in the control of the dynamic stability of microtubules and in the cross-talk between microtubules and actin filaments. Here we show that Reelin can induce mode I MAP1B phosphorylation, both in vivo and in...

Beyond Statistical Significance: Implications of Network Structure on Neuronal Activity

It is a common and good practice in experimental sciences to assess the statistical significance of measured outcomes. For this, the probability of obtaining the actual results is estimated under the assumption of an appropriately chosen null-hypothesis. If this probability is smaller than some threshold, the results are deemed statistically significant and the researchers are content in having...

Control of network activity through neuronal response modulation

Neural network learning is typically treated as the problem of setting synaptic connection strengths to better perform a task. This requires supervision. However, anatomical data suggest that direct synaptic modi3cation by such a supervisor circuit would be unfeasible. We investigate supervision at the level of neurons rather than synapses. By modulating the response properties of cells in the ...
